2. Prescription-based databases and health services databases

General Health Insurance Company covers more than 60% of the insured people in the Czech Republic and has a major impact on drug policy as well as pricing and reimbursement of various health services including new medical technologies. At present, General Health Insurance Company introduces the principles of pharmacoeconomics and health technology assessment into the evaluation of medical devices and together with the Ministry of Health and the State Institute for Drug Control into the assessment and appraisal of pharmaceuticals.

Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS)

Electronic drug packages designed to measure and analyse compliance of ambulatory patients’ prescribed medications. We have been introducing MEMS into research of patient compliance in the Czech Republic.
