3.2. Programmable Flow Injection
Let us define what flow programming means in context of this Tutorial. In continuous flow systems sample zone travels downstream from injection point through series of confluence points, mixing coils and flow cells, by means of forward and constant flow rate. In contrast flow programming is used to move sample zone upstream from injection point into a holding coil followed by series of microfluidic manipulations on the way and through flow cell, by means of flow reversals, stops, and flow accelerations.
