There are many important drugs bearing carbonyl group. Its reduction is important reaction in biotransformation pathway of several clinically used drugs, e.g. antracyclines, NSAIDs. Knowledge of enzymes responsible for metabolism of particular drug is important in terms of their effect, interaction etc. In vitro biotransformation studies may point out to these enzymes. Our workgroup described several carbonyl reducing enzymes responsible for metabolism of nabumetone.
