2019
Three team-members (Frantisek, Cilia and Rona) attended the International Federation of Placenta Associations Conference (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 10.-13.09.2019). During this meeting, Frantisek and Cilia presented their results in the form of poster presentation whereas Rona was selected for oral presentation as a Young Investigator finalist. Her lecture was highly acclaimed by the audience as well as the evaluating committee. In addition, she received a YW Loke New Investigator Travel Award.
While most of our team was spreading knowledge on placental serotonin in Buenos Aires, our dear member Hana was selected as a speaker at the Czech-Slovak Pharmacological Days held in Prague (September 2019).
Four team-members (Frantisek, Cilia, Rona and Hana) attended the 12th European Placental Perfusion Workshop (Nijmegen, Netherlands, 25.-26.06.2019). The team was presented by a dual oral presentation from Frantisek and Rona. The following in-depth discussions gave way to establish collaborations with two European teams (Dr. Sophie Gil, Paris Descartes University, France and Prof. Udo Market, University Jena, Germany); subsequently, with both teams we already started common projects on placenta drug transport.
Doc. Cerveny attended the 21st Bad Herrenalber Barrier and Transporter Meeting 2019 (Bad Herrenalb, Germany, 27.-29.5.2019) presenting poster entitled: “Transport of nucleoside-derived antivirals across the rat and human placental barrier: roles of nucleoside and ATP-binding cassette drug efflux transporters”. Meeting with European experts in the fields of biological barriers and targeted delivery systems was fruitful in discussing the role of membrane transporters in drug distribution and establishing new collaborations.
