Research group of the experimental cardiovascular pharmacology

We are a research group studying the drugs acting on cardiovascular system, in particular in vivo but as well in vitro conditions. Are priorities are:

Current research topics

  • Effects of flavonoids and other polyphenols on the organism in physiological and pathological conditions
  • Screening of novel antiplatelet drugs and assessment of the mechanism of action
  • Effects of drugs on vascular smooth muscles both ex vivo and in vivo
  • In vitro screening of novel iron/copper/zinc chelators (comparison of chelating activity at different pHs, assessment of the abilities of these compounds to inhibit Fenton chemistry leading to highly reactive oxygen species and tissue derangement)
