Fundamental research

Fundamental research is mainly performed in the Laboratory of flow methods. One direction of the research is the sequential injection chromatography (SIC) that was originally developed in ACG. For the first time, the separation step using analytical columns providing very low back-pressure (monolith columns, core-shell columns) was introduced into the flow techniques. Other projects are focused on automation of sample preparation approaches including both SPE (solid phase extraction) and LLE (liquid liquid extraction) based techniques. Sample preparation step is a crucial step of an analytical method and often it is the most time-consuming step and a source of many errors. Therefore, its automation and simplification is an important contribution to the field of analytical chemistry. Besides development and optimization of new approaches, the research is performed also in order to optimize instrumental set-up of flow-methods. Advances in the design of pump, valves and detectors are proposed.
